Taring Padi: Wayang Kardus (Cardboard Puppets)

Join Taring Padi for a workshop on how to make wayang kardus, life-sized carboard puppets. 

For nearly three decades, Taring Padi has used these puppets as a fundamental part of their artistic practice to support people in their struggles for social justice.  

Created from recycled cardboard and painted by hand, wayang kardus figures are used in demonstrations, parades, and community actions. The puppets make crowds look larger, provide shade from the sun and offer some protection. They help to amplify voices, transform public space, and bring people together, forming a key tool in the collective's mission to ‘educate, agitate, and organise’, 

Join us to learn how to make cardboard puppets based on your personal stories. 

This is a collaborative workshop. It is free and open to all skill levels but spaces are limited.
